The reissue of 'The American Way' (1990) by Fuzz On comes in 300 copies, remastered and with gatefold cover

The classic 'The American Way,' the second full-length album by the American thrash metal band Sacred Reich, has just received a new vinyl edition by Fuzz On Discos, a partnership between the labels AMM (All Music Matters), Melômano Discos, and Neves Records, in a limited edition of 300 copies, with remastered audio and gatefold cover.

Originally released in May 1990 by Metal Blade Records, 'The American Way' marked a phase of sonic evolution for the Phoenix/Arizona group, then composed of Phil Rind (vocals and bass), Wiley Arnett and Jason Rainey (guitars), and Greg Hall (drums). After the raw aggression of their debut 'Ignorance' (1987), the band began exploring more varied dynamics, with slower tracks and a less extreme speed approach, without abandoning the roots of thrash metal.

At the time of its release, the album reached position 153 on the Billboard 200 chart, remaining on the charts for nine weeks. Produced by Bill Metoyer (Slayer, Fates Warning, Flotsam and Jetsam, among others), the album also showcased the musicians' technical maturity. Furthermore, the lyrics maintain a strong political and social content. The title track criticizes aspects of American society, while 'Crimes Against Humanity,' which was initially intended to name the album, addresses environmental issues, and 'State of Emergency' takes a stand against apartheid. 'Who's To Blame' discusses the controversy surrounding the association between music and juvenile behavior, and '31 Flavors,' which closes the album, surprises by incorporating elements of funk rock and encouraging greater musical openness within the metal universe.

Formed in the mid-1985, Sacred Reich adopted their name from the initials SR-13 of a graffiti group linked to vocalist Dan Kelly and artist Paul Stottler. The original lineup included Jeff Martinek, Jason Rainey, Greg Hall, and Kelly, but soon Phil Rind took over bass and vocals, participating in the demo 'Draining You Of Life.' With the addition of Wiley Arnett, the band gained prominence on Brian Slagel's compilation 'Metal Massacre 8.' Consequently, they signed with Metal Blade Records and released 'Ignorance' (1987). Their success paved the way for 'Surf Nicaragua' (EP, 1988), tours with Motörhead and the Dynamo Open Air festival, in addition to the live EP 'Alive At The Dynamo' (1989) and 'The American Way' (1990), followed by tours with Pantera and Venom.
